Pee-Wee Herman Art Available for Viewing

All of the art for the "I Know You Art, But What Am I?" Pee-Wee Herman Tribute Show at Gallery 1988 is now available for viewing and for purchase. You can see it on their website here. The "Dogtopus" seen above is one of the four pieces I did for the show.

This is a response to your reply to my last comment.

I didn't blame you for Xombi's cancellation. My point was that I was blaming the audience.

I actually enjoyed Xombi (and the rest of Milestone in general) and I think you and Irving did a great job on the book. I just don't want to see the same series of events repeated on Static's book.

My point was if you, Scott and Harvey could find a way for Static to succeed IN SPITE of that audience. I didn't say it had to be a gimmick either (in fact, I stated the opposite). Just something interesting with the concept of Bang Babies and Static's powers that will gain attention and draw in readers.

The problem is, if Static's book fails, it could end up having serious reprecussions for the character. Chances will be very low that he will get another book, and there's a very good chance that he'll get "Ryan Choi-ed" or at best, get dumped in limbo for a long period, with DC's excuse that since no one bought his book, no one cares what happens to Static and it will be justified what ends up happening with the character. That is DC's (and Marvel's) mindset. As a Ryan Choi fan and fan of other characters that have seen a similar fate, in addition to wanting Virgil's book to last, I simply don't want to see a similar fate befall Static.

Here are some excellent discussions on minorities in the DCU. They highlight most of the hurdles Static's book will be facing.

Here is also an excellent discussion regarding the popularity of comic book minorities and how the industry could improve the situation.

(BTW, It would also be nice for Scott to check out those disscussions. Very informative stuff)

I also bought the Milestone trades in addition to Xombi. I especially enjoyed Icon.

Again, I didn't blame you for Xombi's cancellation.
